SIRES

Moose

We could not have picked a more fitting name for this tall, dark, and handsome boy. He has the drive to please and works hard in the field. He loves to be my companion in the woods no matter what time of year it is.

When we are hunting he ranges out about 60 yards and will check back with me about every 2 minutes. When he gets the scent of the grouse he will hit it hard and stop dead in his tracks. He is still learning the movements of the grouse and will move forward cautiously when I arrive if he thinks they are on the move. He doesn’t typically give false points and doesn’t pay much attention to older scents on the ground, so when he is on point I take notice and move in for the shot.

He is an extremely good swimmer and loves to retrieve no matter how cold the water is but that’s Moose for you! Always looking to please no matter what. He is good with the children and is very loyal to the family. He is not a barker, but when he does bark it is because something is out of the ordinary and alerts us to let us know to check out the situation.

Anders

Anders is a solid dog with an impressive pedigree. On his sire’s side is the Sharp Shooters line. This is a top line when it comes to NAVHDA testing. The dam’s side is all Deutsch Kurzhaar with titles in the field and show ring. This combination produces Anders who has an amazing disposition. He is level headed with a lot of drive for game when we go out in the fields. He was trained and raised out West in big country but he has transitioned nicely to the grouse woods of the Northeast. He has been reigned in to a comfortable 40-50 yards for these woods. He is staunch and will hold a point with style. He has a great temperament and gets along nicely with my children. He has quickly risen to becoming one of my favorite dogs. He always has his tail rocking with happiness and loves the presence of people. I just love the addition of this fine dog to my Kennel and know that he will produce superb puppies that will excel in the field and home.

DAMS

Riley

Riley was welcomed into our family because we completely fell in love with her. She was the “runt” from Abby’s last litter and inherited a lot of Abby’s traits. I guess you could say that the apple didn't fall too far from the tree. She might be on the smaller side of the breed standard but she makes up for it in fight and drive.

She learned right away how to fight for what she wants and that comes in handy while hunting. That hard drive carries over into the hunt because she has no quit in her. She is extremely fast and agile and covers a lot of ground looking for birds. She tends to want to range out about 100 yards but I am transitioning her to be more comfortable working in the 60 yard range. I find it easier to train dogs to pull in closer for the hunt than to try to get a dog to have a longer range. She has caught on quickly to not stay still on a scent of a grouse that is on the move. She will quickly move in and when that scent is strong enough she will lock up and wait for me to arrive.

Riley also loves the water. We introduce them to the water at an early age so they become comfortable with it and become good water retrievers. Her intensity in the field transistions into the home with the family by being super attentive to everyone. Not only is she an amazing gun dog, she is a natural mother. As a first time mother, Riley has shown that she was a perfect addition to continue in our mission to breed quality German Shorthaired Pointers.
